Car Park Pool

General Description

This is a day ticket water – night fishing is for members only.

With several fish over 30 lb being caught almost every year, the Car Park Pool is popular with carp anglers. There are bream to over 6 lbs, they respond well to ground bait feeder tactics; perch to 3 lb; roach to 1 lb; and pike over 20 lb during the winter months.

There are unconfirmed reports of catfish in the car park pool; one of 68 lbs was caught and returned seven miles downstream in Hertford Marina so they are definitely in the area.

There are two weirs here – flow varies with rainfall. Normally there is
very little flow over the weirs until late summer so you can often fish the pool as you would a lake.

Big pike and carp have been taken off the spit next to the big weir.
There are lots of water lilies, in an area that is home to carp and tench,
in the shallower water opposite the tip of Sismey’s island .

Some areas of the pool are 12 feet deep but most swims are 5 to 8 feet deep.
