TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. Introduction & Scope
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) form the basis of an agreement between Offord & Buckden Angling Society who operate the Young Anglers Teaching Scheme (YATS) and you the Client. (Participant/ Guardian). By booking a session, course, or workshop with us, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
These Terms cover: –
Junior Angling Education: For Children and Young People learning to Fish

2. Bookings and Payments
Booking Confirmation: A booking is only confirmed once we have received the required booking form and sent you a conformation email.
Payment Terms: This training scheme is free of charge for the Young Anglers Training Scheme for boys and girls aged between 10 – 11 years (Year 6)

3. Cancellations
Cancellation by the Client
By email or telephone as soon as possible
Cancellation by YATS
Weather/Conditions: We reserve the right to cancel sessions if the weather conditions or water levels are deemed to be unsafe (e.g., lightning, flooding). In this event, you will be offered a reschedule date.
Instructor Illness / Unforeseen Circumstances: We will endeavour to provide a substitute coach. If this is not possible, a reschedule date will be offered.

4. Environment Agency Rod License (UK Law)
Age 12 and Under: Do not require a rod license

5. Health, Safety, and Conduct
Safety Briefing: All participants must attend a mandatory safety briefing at the start of the session.
Instructions: Participants must always follow the instructions of the coach. Failure to do so, particularly regarding waterside safety, may result in removal from the session.
Medical Information: You must disclose any medical conditions, allergies, or physical limitations at the time of booking.
Alcohol/Drugs: We operate a zero-tolerance policy. No alcohol or illegal drugs are permitted.

6. Specific Rules: Junior Anglers
Parental Consent: A completed parental consent is mandatory for all participants Under 18 years of age.
Supervision: Under 13: A parent or guardian must remain on site/bankside for the duration of the session.
Behaviour: We expect respectful behaviour towards staff, other anglers, and wildlife. Bullying or dangerous behaviour will result in immediate exclusion.

7. Specific Rules: Coach Training Candidates
Prerequisites: Candidates must meet the minimum age (18+) and angling experience requirements outlined in the course description.
DBS Checks: Candidates training to work with children will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check. A failed check may prevent certification.
Certification: Attendance does not guarantee certification. Candidates must pass all practical and theoretical assessments to be awarded their coaching qualification.

8. Equipment and Welfare
Fish Welfare: YATS practices “Catch and Release.” All fish must be handled with wet hands, unhooked carefully, and returned to the water promptly. Mishandling fish will be grounds for session termination.
Provided Equipment: We provide tackle and bait for beginners. You are responsible for using it correctly.
Damages: We reserve the right to charge for equipment broken or lost due to negligence or misuse. (accidental breakages during normal use are usually covered by YATS)
Personal Equipment: If you bring your own gear, we accept no liability for loss or damage to it.

9. Liability and Insurance
Insurance: Offord & Buckden Angling Society hold Public Liability Insurance
Liability: Angling involves outdoor environments with inherent risks. (e.g., slippery banks, hooks, deep water). While we take every reasonable precaution, we accept no liability for: –
- Personal injury or death (unless caused by our proven negligence
- Loss or damage to personal property (cars, phones, tackle)
- Slips, trips, or falls on the bankside.

10. Media and Photography
- We may take photographs or video for marketing purposes (social media, website).
- Opt-Out: You will be asked for specific consent regarding photography during the booking process/ If you (or your child) do not wish to be photographed, please indicate this clearly on the consent form.

11. Data Protection (GDPR)
- We collect personal data (names, contact details, medical information), solely for the purpose of managing the bookings and ensuring safety
- We do not share your data with third parties unless required by law (e.g., NHS Test and Trace, emergency services).
- Data is stored securely and deleted in accordance with our privacy policy.

12. OBAS Coaches
- Our Level 2 Coaches have all passed the scheme administered by the Angling Trust
